Budget brief series 2020/21: Budget allocation and spending on children in South Africa
06 November 2020
UNICEF produces an annual budget brief series in sectors that have a direct bearing on the well-being of children. These briefs analyse the composition and allocation of sector budgets while describing how proposed allocations and past spending are likely to affect the realisation of children’s socio-economic rights. By doing this annually, UNICEF works to capture any major changes in sector budgets and to point out potential implications for children. For 2020, the budget briefs have a special focus on the impact of COVID-19 on sector budgets and how the evolving pandemic affects vulnerable households and children.
