Youth development and engagement are integral to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, as well as other internationally agreed frameworks.
To complement the UN’s ongoing efforts to promote meaningful youth engagement and ensuring that young people are provided with the skills, knowledge and platforms to provide leadership in catalyzing the achievement of the SDGs the UN Youth Theme Group, South Africa is calling for nominations for youth leaders to participate in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Youth Advocates.
Engaging youth actively in the design and development of interventions, programs, and policies not only enhances their effectiveness but also fosters the growth of their knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities. This approach further strengthens the capacity of organizations and entities to advocate for and advance youth development. The United Nations (UN) serves as a crucial source of protection and support for young people, providing a platform through which their needs can be addressed, their voices amplified, and their engagement advanced.
Youth development and engagement are integral to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, as well as other internationally agreed frameworks, and represent a central aspect of Security Council Resolutions 2250 (2015) and 2419 (2018). These resolutions recognize the significant and positive role young people play in realizing sustainable development goals.
We are accepting nominations from all UN Agencies; Government Departments and Implementing Partners for two young people who have actively participated in youth development programmes and demonstrated exceptional leadership.
