Nelson Mandela SDGs Booklet (ENGLISH 2023)
Launched in 2023, this booklet is a tribute to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, former President of South Africa and global icon for justice and human rights. It connects his powerful call-to-action messages with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs, adopted by the United Nations in 2015. By matching his words—spoken before, during, and after his 27-year imprisonment—with relevant SDGs, the booklet aims to inspire action as we reach the midpoint of the Agenda.
Nelson Mandela is the first person to have a UN day named in his honour—18 July, Nelson Mandela International Day—celebrated as a moment to reflect on values he embodied: justice, equality, human rights, and solidarity. As we move beyond the 2023 SDG Summit, let us remember his words: “It’s now in your hands.”
By turning his vision into action and aligning with the SDGs, we can shape a more just, inclusive, and sustainable future.
